Netflix is a Parent’s New Best Friend

Posted by: | June 30, 2015

Super-4 netflix

Before you lambast me for the title of this post, before you judge me for using Netflix as a babysitter, let me be as clear as crystal here: Netflix is a parent’s best friend not because it can act as babysitter while you get some stuff down around the house or take that conference call from home without the sound of childhood mayhem in the background. Although, hey, no judging here, you do what you’ve gotta do. But in this house, Netflix is a parent’s new best friend because of their massive library of kids movies and the ever-growing lineup of outstanding original family programming, all for $8 per month.

My girls and I recently discovered two gems and are giddy about a third that will have arrived by the time you read this.

Inspector-Gadget-2015 netflix
First, the hi-tech goofball Inspector Gadget received a much needed refresh and unlike many reboots that choose to alter the waist and head size of its beloved characters, morphing them into Bratz-y fashionistas, Netflix gives the bumbling Inspector, Penny, Brain and the rest of the auxiliary cast a modern update in animation quality without making any bizarre stylistic changes. So the only thing ridiculous about the new Inspector Gadget is Inspector Gadget himself, which is just as it should be.

Super-4 netflix
Playmobil finally gets the kind of treatment LEGO has had for a while now: an amazing cartoon! Super 4 takes a knight, a pirate, a spy and a fairy from the Playmobil toy universe and sends them on fun adventures with smart dialogue. This show is 100% wonderful. Get started on the 26 episodes of season 1 ASAP!

Dragons Race To The Edge Netflix
We’ll finish this post with quite possibly the biggest Netflix original kids show of all, Dragons: Race To The Edge!

All 13-episodes of the new Netflix How To Train Your Dragon original series Dragons: Race To The Edge has just arrived and any fans of Hiccup, Toothless and the rest of the Berk gang are going to love spending their summer with new adventures, new flying tricks, and of course, new dragons! Read all about Dragons on The Daddy Files.
